Getting or renewing the national ID card (CNIE)

To get the ID card for the first time or renew it: you start with a pre-request on the official site, then go in person to the registration centre.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the pre-request on the site (first card or renewal) and book an appointment if the site offers one.
  2. Prepare the papers the site asks for in your case (for a first card, for example: a copy of the birth certificate and a residence certificate).
  3. Go in person to the registration centre at your appointment, with the pre-request printed and signed.
  4. Collect your card in person when the centre tells you it is ready.
